My Grandma

My grandma was always glamorous, I remember thinking she was some sort of movie star when she showed up to London to see us in her fancy grey car. She always looked pristine, smelt like a parisian, and carried herself with flair. I have fond memories of begging her to drive faster (which she did) to her home in Kent from London - with the Bee Gees and Tom Jones cassette tapes blasting out and the windows down. She was kind of wild looking back in a really cool way. There was always a lot of mystery surrounding my Grandma, secrets and romance seemed to be a part of her to my child like mind. I was correct I later discovered. She was a woman who had really loved and lived her way and I think that is admirable in many regards. She had this wonderful collection of ceramic lady figurines that I adored playing with as a little girl, and because I was so careful she let me. I would create elegant dances and balls all over her living room carpet for hours on end. She told me Rob would bring them back for her from trips and I recall being amazed that anyone had travelled anywhere so much! She would play with me in the garden for hours, pushing me round and round in a wheelbarrow, she had endless energy back then, we were always dancing or chatting. She will be missed and I am happy and comforted that she lived a long life and had a peaceful end. She also created my beautiful mother and my amazing and endlessly cool auntie - both of which I am forever grateful for. May she rest in perfect peace ✨🙏🏼
